RB Leipzig<\/a>\u2019s Marcel Sabitzer<\/a> is a player highly rated and desired by Tottenham Hotspur,<\/a> according to reports. The player has been rumoured to be heading for the exit door this summer ahead of his contract coming to an end in 2022.<\/p>\n

Tottenham Hold Interest in RB Leipzig\u2019s Marcel Sabitzer<\/h2>\n

Leipzig Resigned to Losing Sabitzer<\/h3>\n

Bild, according to Sports Witness<\/a>,\u00a0has reported that Leipzig are fully resigned to the fact that Sabitzer will not be their player when the 2021\/22 season kicks off following this summers European Championships. There is also no release clause in the contract for his services, something that is relatively uncommon in the modern game, and the rumoured price the Bundesliga side are looking for is in the region of \u00a335 million.<\/p>\n

Sabitzer and Spurs Have History<\/h3>\n

On March 20, Sabitzer caught the eye of the Spurs fans when he scored two goals in a 3-0 defeat in the Champions League round of 16 that saw Spurs dumped out of the competition. For Jose Mourinho, it was a bitter blow but he has remembered the performance of one player from that night and wants to have him on his team rather than as an opponent.<\/p>\n

All Action Hero<\/h3>\n

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg<\/a> has made himself one of the first names on the Spurs team sheet and he is the only Tottenham player to have made more interceptions in the Premier League than Sabitzer\u2019s 27 in the Bundesliga.<\/p>\n

Only Harry Kane<\/a> and Son Heung-min<\/a> have made more key passes than Sabitzer this season which makes it plain to see why he is high on Tottenham\u2019s wanted list.<\/p>\n

Who Makes Way for Sabitzer at Spurs?<\/h3>\n

One question that arises from the potential signing of Sabitzer is who in the current Spurs squad would make way? Hojbjerg is a similar player but there is little chance that he will be going anywhere and it would be more likely that the two would be the mainframe of a future Spurs midfield.<\/p>\n

Harry Winks<\/a> has struggled for game time and form under Mourinho and has been linked with La Liga side Valencia.<\/a> It is hard to see after just ten league appearances this season that Winks has any future at Spurs and certainly not under Mourinho.<\/p>\n

Moussa Sissoko <\/a>is another player who has fallen out of favour at Spurs and the club could cash in on him in the summer to help fund a move for Sabitzer. Interestingly, there is also Oliver Skipp<\/a> to consider who has been excelling on loan at Norwich City<\/a> in the Championship and is highly thought of at the North London club.<\/p>\n

Mourinho\u2019s Position Could Impact Transfer<\/h3>\n

Even though Mourinho could deliver the first trophy to Spurs in 13 years, he is still under pressure and facing uncertainty over whether he will still be the manager once the current campaign ends.<\/p>\n

One name being linked with the top job at Spurs should Mourinho fall is that of Leipzig\u2019s current manager, Julian Nagelsmann<\/a> who is considered one of the best young coaches in world football, and his relationship with Sabitzer would certainly be helpful should both men end up being on the move this summer.<\/p>\n
