Manchester United<\/a> Women secured a historic win this weekend in the Women\u2019s Super League, recording a 2-0 victory over West Ham United<\/a> in the team\u2019s first-ever match at Old Trafford.<\/p>\n

Manchester United Women Achieve Historic Victory in Latest Women\u2019s Super League Weekend<\/h2>\n

Manchester United Overcome West Ham<\/h3>\n

Manchester United overcame West Ham at Old Trafford thanks to second-half goals from Lauren James and Christen Press.<\/p>\n

James claimed the honour of being the first women\u2019s team player to score a goal at Old Trafford when she nodded the ball home after reacting quickest to Maria Thorisdottir’s flick-on inside the box.<\/p>\n

The 19-year-old has now achieved an impressive feat<\/a> of scoring United\u2019s first goals in the Women\u2019s Championship, FA Cup, Women\u2019s Super League and now at Old Trafford.<\/p>\n

Despite a spirited performance from West Ham, the result leaves them at the foot of the table following this weekend\u2019s games with nine points from 16 games.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, United remain in the third and final Champions League spot with 38 points from 18 games.<\/p>\n

Arsenal Outgun Tottenham Hotspur in the North London Derby<\/a><\/h3>\n

Arsenal<\/a> convincingly outgunned Tottenham in a North London derby at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, thanks to a goal each from Caitlin Foord, Vivianne Miedema and Katie McCabe.<\/p>\n

Foord broke the deadlock in the 26th minute after coolly slotting the ball into the bottom corner, before Miedema doubled the Gunners\u2019 advantage 11 minutes later with a brilliant finish.<\/p>\n

Extra gloss was added to the scoreline by McCabe when she provided a composed finish of her own just past the hour mark.<\/p>\n

The result leaves the Gunners in fourth with 35 points from 17 games and hot on the heels of Manchester United in third.<\/p>\n

However, Spurs are now winless in their last seven games, remain eighth with 17 points from 18 games.<\/p>\n

Manchester City Edge Out Reading<\/h3>\n

Manchester City left it late to overcome Reading at the Academy Stadium, but Chloe Kelly<\/a>\u2019s 87th minute strike was enough to keep them hot on Chelsea\u2019s heels in the Women\u2019s Super League title race.<\/p>\n

Lauren Hemp<\/a> teed up Kelly to tap home the winning goal from close range to edge past a resilient Reading side and ensured they temporarily leapfrogged Chelsea at the top of the table.<\/p>\n

The Blues\u2019 2-0 win over Aston Villa a day later ended their brief stint at the top, but the gap between the two clubs remains at two points.<\/p>\n

The defeat for Reading means it’s now four games without a win for Kelly Chambers\u2019 side, and they remain seventh in the table with 20 points from 18 games.<\/p>\n

Brighton & Hove Albion Stunned by Five-Star Everton Display<\/h3>\n

Brighton\u2019s record-breaking four-match winning streak in the Women\u2019s Super League came to an emphatic end with a 5-0 defeat to Everton.<\/p>\n

The Toffees ruthlessly swept past the Seagulls thanks to Hayley Raso<\/a>\u2019s hat-trick, Izzy Christiansen<\/a>\u2019s penalty and a goal from Simone Magill<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The result gives Everton an added stranglehold on fifth place and are now seven points clear of sixth-place Brighton with 28 points from 18 games.<\/p>\n

Chelsea<\/a> Continue Winning Momentum Against Aston Villa<\/h3>\n

Sam Kerr<\/a>\u2019s brace was enough to earn Emma Hayes\u2019 side all three points against Aston Villa and continue to set the pace at the top of the Women\u2019s Super League.<\/p>\n

Fran Kirby<\/a> was the provider for both goals \u2013 the Australian headed home from her drifted ball into the box in the 24th minute, before firing in a clinical left-footed strike after linking up well with the England international.<\/p>\n

The Blues are now unbeaten in nine matches across all competitions and have 47 points from 18 games.<\/p>\n

It is now a fourth defeat in a row for Villa and they drop down to 11th place with 10 points from 16 games \u2013 one more than West Ham at the bottom.<\/p>\n

Birmingham City<\/a> and Bristol City Share the Spoils<\/h3>\n

Birmingham City and Bristol City played out a 1-1 draw in the big bottom-of-the-table clash at Damson Park.<\/p>\n

Charlie Wellings<\/a> put Bristol City in front with just 13 minutes played after she reacted quickest when Carla Humphreys<\/a>\u2019 effort rebounded into her path.<\/p>\n

But Birmingham recovered from behind to claim a point for the second week running, as Christine Murray\u2019s effort found the top corner two minutes shy of the hour mark.<\/p>\n

Bristol City move up a place in the table to 10th with 11 points from 18 games, while Birmingham still occupy ninth spot and are two points better off than Matt Beard\u2019s side with a game in hand.<\/p>\n
