A couple of weeks ago<\/a>, three Watford Academy players were called up for international duty. On Thursday, all three of them featured – all making their senior international debuts. To top it off, one of them scored.<\/p>\n

Watford Academy Stars Shine On Senior International Duty<\/h2>\n

Bayli Spencer-Adams And Daniel Phillips Clash<\/h3>\n

Bayli Spencer-Adams<\/a> arrived at Watford<\/a>, from Arsenal<\/a>, in the summer of 2019. The 19-year-old centre-back, who can play in the wide defensive positions if necessary, came off the bench in the 56th minute for fullback Miquel Scarlett<\/a> for his international debut.<\/p>\n

Guyana, Spencer-Adams’ international team, did not concede once the player, who debuted for Watford in the FA Cup in 2020, came onto the pitch.<\/p>\n

Their opposition, Trinidad and Tobago, emerged victorious by a scoreline of 3-0. Another Watford youngster made his senior international debut in the match. Daniel Phillips<\/a>, who made his senior debut for Watford in the club’s first match of the season in addition to featuring at Old Trafford in the FA Cup, played the full 90 minutes for Trinidad and Tobago.<\/p>\n

The strong central-midfielder, who is now 20-years-old, has spent his entire career with Watford. He recently recovered from an injury, so playing the full match will boost his confidence in more ways than one.<\/p>\n

Watford Academy Star Kane Crichlow Scores Against Canada<\/h3>\n

Kane Crichlow<\/a> was also involved in a CONCACAF World Cup Qualification match. He came up against superstar left-back Alphonso Davies<\/a> as Bermuda took on Canada. Although Canada emerged victorious by a 5-1 scoreline, Crichlow still put in a performance worth remembering.<\/p>\n

Canada were always going to be favourites to win the match. After all, Bermuda is a nation of only 64,000 people (Canada’s population is 588 times larger than that). Nonetheless, the 20-year-old put in a respectable shift and scored a goal to reward his debut efforts.<\/p>\n

In the 63rd minute, Canada’s goalkeeper and Red Star Belgrade’s captain Milan Borjan<\/a>, parried a cross straight down to the ground to take the sting out of the hit. However, Crichlow was lively, and when Borjan batted the ball down near his own feet, Crichlow lunged in and poked the ball into the net<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Watford Academy is not one of the better-known youth set-ups. But, the academy that produced Jadon Sancho<\/a> now has a handful of players breaking onto the scene at the international level. At club level, more chances may resultantly come in the near future.<\/p>\n
