Manchester United<\/a> are keeping tabs on Sporting Lisbon’s\u00a0Pedro Goncalves<\/a> according to The Telegraph,<\/a> as Ole Gunnar Solksjaer’s side continue to look for a right-winger.<\/p>\n

Scoring 15 times this season in 22 appearances, the Portuguese winger has attracted the attention of the Red Devils who continue to look for someone to fill the right-wing void. With negotiations at a cross-roads with Borussia Dortmund<\/a> over Jadon Sancho<\/a>, Manchester United\u2019s new recruitment team are keeping tabs on Goncalves who they see as a viable option for half the price.<\/p>\n

Goncalves\u2019 current contract contains a release clause of \u00a351.7 million, which is worth less than half of Dortmund\u2019s asking price of \u00a3108 million for Sancho<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The 22-year old was bought by Lisbon to replace the now Manchester United<\/a> star Bruno Fernandes in the summer and has quickly become an integral member of the squad. Playing in a more central attacking position, Goncalves is versatile and able to play on either wing too which will fit under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer\u2019s plans.<\/p>\n

The Portuguese international has also scored nine more goals than the England international and has seen Sporting Lisbon’s charge towards their first league title in 19 years accelerate significantly.<\/p>\n

The Telegraph understands that new Football Director John Mourtough<\/a> is keeping tabs on the situation as United look for viable alternatives to Sancho but any final say on deals is left to manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.<\/p>\n

Competition From Europe’s Elite<\/h3>\n

Since selling Fernandes to United, the form of Goncalves has helped Sporting reach bigger heights than before.<\/p>\n

Goncalves may return to England a bigger and better player after struggling during his time at Wolverhampton Wanderers. Under Nuno Espirito Santo, he made one Carabao Cup appearance before leaving for Famalicao in 2019.<\/p>\n

Having bought him for as little as \u00a35.85 million last summer, the Portuguese club could be on the verge of another big payday with United. Sporting have sold Cristiano Ronaldo<\/a>, Nani<\/a>, Marcos Rojo<\/a> and Fernandes to the Red Devils in the past.<\/p>\n

But Solksjaer\u2019s side will need to move fast for the 22-year old with a host of European\u2019s top clubs reportedly tracking the player.<\/p>\n
