In Perhaps the quietest Luton Town<\/a> weekly round-up thus far, an unfortunate defeat against high-flying Swansea City<\/a> dominates.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Hatters were scheduled to host Rotherham United<\/a> on Tuesday night, but another Coronavirus outbreak at the Yorkshire club immediately forced a postponement.<\/span><\/p>\n

Rotherham United Cancellation Means a Rare Free Week<\/h3>\n

The news of the postponement came on the Friday before Luton’s trip to league leaders, Norwich City.<\/a>\u00a0And, whilst Nathan Jones would have appreciated the rest, it ultimately disrupted his Saturday plans.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Hatters made five changes to the side that came back against Sheffield Wednesday<\/a> to secure all three points, with the rotated starting lineup suggesting that they had been planning on using Norwich as a free hit. Jones later admitted that he would have selected the usual suspects if he had known about the postponed Rotherham fixture earlier.<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

Swansea City Defeat Headlines This Luton Town Weekly Round-Up<\/h3>\n

A fresh Luton Town side then hosted promotion-chasing Swansea on Saturday, but despite all their preparation, they found themselves a goal down in just three minutes.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

From that moment on, the Hatters dominated the game and walked away scratching their heads that they did not win the game. There were brilliant performances all over the pitch but Luton lacked that finishing touch that is required against high-quality opposition.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Bedfordshire club remain 12 points clear of relegation, and whilst relegation is not an immediate concern, they will be pushing to get to a position where the drop is not mathematically possible in the coming weeks.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Other Updates From the Club<\/h3>\n

On Tuesday, the club tweeted that next season’s Championship campaign would kick-off on August 7<\/a>. Of course, it is still not entirely safe to assume that they will remain a second-tier club next year, but with the odds in the club’s favour, a third season of Championship football will be an immense achievement.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

On Wednesday, the club announced the 12 U16’s who would continue their Luton journey as first-year scholars.<\/a> With the rate that the club is progressing – from a first-team and an academy perspective – it is an excellent time for the young Hatters to be coming through.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
