Norwich City<\/a> manager Daniel Farke has praised the impact of Tottenham Hotspur<\/a> loanee Oliver Skipp<\/a>\u00a0but admits signing him on a permanent deal would be challenging.<\/p>\n

The 20-year-old has emerged as one of The Canaries’ most consistent performers this season, cementing a position in midfield as his own.<\/p>\n

Daniel Farke Impressed With Oliver Skipp but Rules Out Permanent Deal<\/h2>\n

Skipp Loan Was ‘Perfect Business’ for Norwich<\/h3>\n

Since arriving at Carrow Road in the summer<\/a>, Skipp has taken to life in the second-tier like a duck to water. The England U21 international has started every game in the Championship (34)<\/a> and has played a key role as the Canaries moved 10 points clear at the top of the table.<\/p>\n

Skipp also registered his first senior goal last week in Norwich’s 3-1 win against Birmingham City<\/a> to cap off yet another impressive showing.<\/p>\n

The young midfielder was always of significant interest to manager Farke, who has since praised the Norwich board for completing the signing in the summer.<\/p>\n

“He was one of my biggest wishes to bring in last summer, so compliments to Stuart Webber for making it happen,” Farke told Pink Un<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“I can only praise Olly [Skipp] and Tottenham. This was perfect business.<\/p>\n

“The best piece of business is always a permanent move when you are fully convinced and you commit the club\u2019s future to a player, and they do likewise.<\/p>\n

“A loan is tricky. But if you have a chance to bring in someone who can be a major boost to the squad then perhaps a loan is the only way that happens.”<\/p>\n

Farke Rules Out Permanent Deal for Skipp<\/h3>\n

Skipp’s performances in Norfolk will no doubt be tempting Norwich to consider a permanent move. Also impressed with Skipp is Spurs manager Jose Mourinho, who considered recalling the midfielder in January<\/a>, but opted against doing so to avoid disrupting his playing momentum.<\/p>\n

Farke has taken notice of the midfielder’s role in his side’s title and promotion push and has expressed his interest in securing a long-term deal. However, The Canaries boss also admitted that such a move could prove to be extremely difficult in the wider context.<\/p>\n

“We would never be able to sign a highly-rated player like Oliver Skipp. Not on a permanent deal. It would be an unbelievable amount of money for our club,” Farke added.<\/p>\n

“When you bring young players from the best clubs in the world there is always a risk.<\/p>\n

“We saw the potential, we looked into his character a lot and we knew he would be fully convinced to give everything, not thinking I don\u2019t need to work to prove I am the best in my position.<\/p>\n

“Oliver is a perfect lad. So humble. He is a brilliant loan signing.”<\/p>\n
