Cardiff City Hit Struggling Derby County for Four<\/h3>\n

Cardiff stretched their unbeaten run to double figures on Tuesday night<\/a> with a convincing 4-0 win<\/a> against a Derby County<\/a> side who seem to be unable to avoid the emerging Championship relegation scrap.<\/p>\n

Leandro Bacuna calmly opened the scoring before Kieffer Moore doubled the advantage two minutes after half-time, heading home from Will Vaulks’ corner kick. Bacuna netted his second of the match in the 56th minute, curling in a first-time effort from Sheyi Ojo’s clever pass. Vaulks added a fourth late into injury time and it was the pick of the bunch, striking from 30 yards past Kelle Roos in the Derby County in the goal.<\/p>\n

The victory for the hosts means that they have now accumulated 22 points from a possible 24<\/a> and sit just two points from the much-desired play-off positions. For Derby, the threat of relegation remains a possibility and see their gap cut to six points above safety.<\/p>\n

Barnsley Strengthen Championship Playoff Intentions With a Comfortable Win in West London<\/h3>\n

Barnsley made it six wins on the bounce by securing a 3-1 victory<\/a> over Queens Park Rangers<\/a> as two of the more in-form sides in the division met at the Kiyan Prince Foundation stadium.<\/p>\n

January signing Daryl Dike opened the scoring, heading in from Alex Mowatt’s corner before Charlie Austin tapped home an equaliser just three minutes later. Barnsley regained the advantage just two minutes later through Mowatt’s stunning free-kick finding the top corner. The visitors remained dominant in what remained of the game and sealed the victory in the 57th minute when second-half substitute Carlton Morris scored with his first involvement of the game, expertly converting past the onrushing Seny Dieng.<\/p>\n

Barnsley’s sixth successive victory means they remain in seventh place and just a point off Bournemouth in sixth, whilst defeat for QPR, means that they are still considered as a team threatened by relegation.<\/p>\n

Watford Close Top Two Gap in Wycombe Wanderers Victory<\/h3>\n

The Hornets closed the gap with Brentford to a single point in their 2-0 victory<\/a> against bottom club Wycombe Wanderers,<\/a> boosting their chances of automatic promotion back to the Premier League.<\/p>\n

The high-flying hosts opened the scoring in the 15th minute when Andre Gray tucked home Kiko Femenia’s inch-perfect cross. Both sides created several chances to score the all-important second goal, but it was the Hornets who extended their lead and it was Gray who doubled his tally, slotting past David Stockdale in the Wycombe goal.<\/p>\n

Watford’s fifth victory in six games keeps them in third place, whilst safety looks nearly impossible for the Chairboys now who are 12 points off Birmingham City in 21st.<\/p>\n
