Manchester City<\/a> cut Chelsea\u2019s<\/a> lead at the top of the table to two points with a 4-0 win over Birmingham City, as the Women\u2019s Super League returned after the international break.<\/p>\n

Manchester City Overcome Birmingham<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Manchester City ran out comfortable winners over Birmingham at St George\u2019s Park to remain firmly on Chelsea\u2019s coattails in the Women\u2019s Super League title race.<\/p>\n

Sam Mewis<\/a> broke the deadlock in the 40th minute after she headed home Chloe Kelly<\/a>\u2019s cross, before the United States World Cup winner scored hers and City\u2019s second from Alex Greenwood<\/a>\u2019s corner with 52 minutes played.<\/p>\n

Lauren Hemp<\/a> effectively killed the game off as a contest a minute later after firing home at the far post, while Caroline Weir<\/a> added a fourth with a tap-in from Ellen White<\/a>\u2019s pass in the 66th minute.<\/p>\n

It was an eighth straight win for City, who will now turn their attention to a Women\u2019s Champions League round of 16 first leg tie against Fiorentina on March 3.<\/a><\/p>\n

As for Birmingham, that result extends their winless run to five games and keeps the gap between themselves and bottom club Bristol City at five points, albeit with two matches in hand.<\/p>\n

Arsenal Maintain Champions League Challenge With Win Over Aston Villa<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Arsenal recovered from bruising back-to-back defeats to Manchester City and Chelsea with an ultimately convincing 4-0 win over Aston Villa at the Banks\u2019s Stadium.<\/p>\n

Vivianne Miedema<\/a> broke the deadlock in the 58th minute with a close-range finish and Jordan Nobbs<\/a> doubled the Gunners\u2019 advantage nine minutes later to mark her return to the side from a quad strain.<\/p>\n

Katie McCabe<\/a> put the game out of sight with a superb strike in the 73rd minute and then set up Lisa Evans<\/a> to head in Arsenal\u2019s fourth 15 minutes later.<\/p>\n

The result keeps their challenge for a top-three finish on track and leaves them six points adrift of Manchester United in third with a game in hand.<\/p>\n

Villa\u2019s defeat leaves them firmly in the battle to beat the drop – they are currently four points clear of Bristol City with a game in hand.<\/p>\n

Everton Recover After Losing Two-Goal Lead to Beat Tottenham Hotspur \u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Jill Scott<\/a> was the hero for Everton after she scored the decisive third goal to overcome Tottenham in a thrilling encounter at The Hive.<\/p>\n

Valerie Gauvin<\/a> put the Toffees 2-0 up after scoring from penalties in the eighth and 18th minute following Ria Percival<\/a>\u2019s handball and a foul from Abbie McManus<\/a> respectively.<\/p>\n

But Angela Addison<\/a> halved the deficit in the 35th minute with a tidy finish before Gemma Davison<\/a> wiped out the visitors\u2019 lead thanks to a half-volley three minutes shy of the hour mark.<\/p>\n

It was the Merseysiders that had the last word though, as Scott rose highest from a corner to cap off a memorable week which saw her earn a 150th England cap in a 6-0 win over Northern Ireland on February 23.<\/a><\/p>\n
