Spanish left-back Angelino claims that Pep Guardiola, his boss at Manchester City<\/a>, “killed” his confidence, despite still having learned a lot during his time at the club.<\/p>\n

Angelino Lost Confidence After Lack of Chances Under Pep Guardiola<\/h2>\n

Angelino arrived in Manchester in 2013, first playing in the youth set-up. The 16-year-old then developed his trade on loan to New York City, Mallorca and NAC Breda in the Eredivisie.<\/p>\n

It was in the Netherlands that Angelino impressed enough to secure a five-year contract with PSV Eindhoven, moving away from Manchester City.<\/p>\n

City’s buy-back clause meant that Angelino was granted a return to Manchester in 2019. He would only go on to make six appearances in the Premier League.<\/p>\n

He said: “I had a rest when I was with Pep for six months, that was enough,”
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

“I don’t want it again. That’s why I want to be on the pitch. I don’t like being out. I am thankful that I get to play most of the time. I had enough holidays.”<\/span><\/p>\n

“It killed me…the confidence was everything, when you don’t have the trust of a coach it is everything.<\/span><\/p>\n

“I was judged for pre-season, two games, and then I didn’t get my chance until a few months. It is hard to play one game every two months so I am just happy that happened so I could come here and meet Julian and everyone here.<\/span><\/p>\n

“It was a 50\/50 experience. On one side I really learned a lot from Pep, he improved me as a player on the pitch and I have to be thankful also for the experience.<\/span><\/p>\n

“On the other side I didn’t play as much as I wanted to or I deserved.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Grass Greener at RB Leipzig<\/h3>\n

Earlier this month Angelino signed a four-year contract<\/a> with RB Leipzig, after an impressive loan spell.<\/p>\n

He has made 31 appearances, scoring eight goals and racking up 11 assists across domestic and European football.<\/p>\n

Angelino is building on his previous season at the club to kick on and put his confidence issues in the past.<\/p>\n
