Nigel Pearson Could Help Turn Bristol City Around<\/h3>\n

Pearson has not held a managerial role since leaving Watford in July 2020, but he could help to steady what is a sinking Bristol City ship.<\/p>\n

Bristol City sacked Dean Holden<\/a> after six defeats in all competitions. The club haven’t won a Championship match for almost a month.<\/p>\n

They sit 15th, ten points off AFC Bournemouth and the promotion places. Ten points is also the gap between the Robins and the relegation zone.<\/p>\n

Club owner Steve Lansdown felt that he had no choice but to sack Holden to try to turn this poor position around.<\/p>\n

He said<\/a>: “It hurts, it just hurts. I want Bristol City to be successful. I want us to be in the Premier League and when these sort of things happen, you realise you are nowhere near it, and that’s a big disappointment.<\/p>\n

“Everybody can blame anybody, but I take the blame, it is me, we haven’t got it right and to get where we want to get to, we have got to get it right.<\/p>\n

“We have got a good squad of players, good players on the pitch, we have to get them motivated and playing with confidence and really enjoying their football again.<\/p>\n

Pearson’s Track Record<\/h3>\n

In comparison to the outgoing manager, Holden, Pearson has experience of winning titles and getting teams promoted at different levels of the game.<\/p>\n

He’s achieved promotion with Leicester City, and has won titles both as a player and a manager.<\/p>\n

But in his last job, he could not save Watford from relegation, forced to walk the plank before they eventually sunk back down to the Championship.<\/p>\n

John Percy reports that whilst negiotiations are ongoing, there is no deal in place yet between Nigel Pearson<\/a> and Bristol City.<\/p>\n
