Bayern Munich<\/a> and England U21 midfielder Jamal Musiala is set to sign a new contract with the club, reports Jacob Steinberg of The Guardian<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The 17-year-old is close to agreeing on a deal that will see him stay with the German champions until 2026 and would bring an end to the youth agreement which currently ties him to the club.<\/p>\n

Bayern are keen to stop Musiala from having his head turned by Premier League clubs who are interested in signing him. Both Liverpool<\/a> and Manchester United<\/a> have reportedly been monitoring the midfielder since his move to Bayern from Chelsea in 2019.<\/p>\n

Steinberg reports that discussions over this deal began in December and that they have progressed in recent weeks.<\/p>\n

The deal will be incentivised and will begin from February 26 when Musiala turns 18.<\/p>\n

The starting salary is expected to be lower than \u00a3100,000-per-week but could rise to that depending on the goals that the midfielder meets.<\/p>\n

Musiala was on the bench last night as Bayern’s five-match winning run in the Bundesliga came to an end. The Bavarians played out a thrilling 3-3 draw against Arminia Bielefeld, in which Alphonso Davies’ brilliant strike rescued a point for the league leaders.<\/p>\n

Despite not appearing in that game, Musiala has made an impression on the Bayern first-team this season. Most recently, he featured in both of their games at the Club World Cup – a 2-0 win against Al Ahly and a 1-0 success over Tigres.<\/p>\n

He also has three Bundesliga goals to his name this season. He scored on the opening day rout against Schalke, hitting the last of Bayern’s eight-goal haul, bagged in the 5-0 win against Eintracht Frankfurt, and hit the first equaliser in the 3-3 draw against RB Leipzig.<\/p>\n
