It\u2019s Manchester derby day in the Women\u2019s Super League, as Manchester City<\/a> host Manchester United<\/a> at the Academy Stadium tonight in an important game at the top of the table.<\/p>\n

A Manchester Derby in the Women\u2019s Super League<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Mouth-Watering Contest<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The game is a mouth-watering contest between two Women\u2019s Super League heavyweights, and both will be targeting three points to boost their own title aspirations.<\/p>\n

Casey Stoney<\/a>\u2019s side head into the game sitting second in the table with 32 points from 14 games, while City are third and two points further adrift \u2013 albeit with a game in hand over their local rivals.<\/p>\n

The Red Devils will be looking to bounce back from a surprise 2-0 defeat at home to Reading on February 7 \u2013 their first home league loss since January 2020.<\/p>\n

It was a missed opportunity for United, who could have leapfrogged Chelsea<\/a> at the top of the table after their shock 2-1 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Manchester City in Scintillating Form<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Meanwhile, Gareth Taylor<\/a>\u2019s team are in scintillating form going into the contest. They have won each of their last six games in the league since letting a two-goal lead slip to draw 2-2 with Manchester United in this season\u2019s reverse fixture at Leigh Sports Village on November 14.<\/p>\n

Taylor revealed that he has a clean bill of health in his squad following a 2-1 win away at Arsenal on February 7, with Demi Stokes<\/a> and Sam Mewis<\/a> the only players ruled out through injury.<\/p>\n

Long Injury List for Manchester United<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Stoney has a longer list of absentees heading into the clash, as Tobin Heath<\/a> (ankle), Alessia Russo<\/a> (hamstring), Lucy Staniforth<\/a> (knock) are all ruled out, while Lauren James<\/a> (quad) and Kirsty Smith<\/a> (calf) are both doubtful.<\/p>\n

But there was some good news on the injury front, after the United boss confirmed that Martha Harris<\/a> had returned to full training after recovering from a hip injury and is in contention to feature against City.<\/p>\n

It is all gearing up for a highly-entertaining derby day clash, as the Women\u2019s Super League title race takes another twist.<\/p>\n
