Defensive Reinforcements<\/h3>\n

Chelsea’s defensive issues under former manager Frank Lampard were no secret. The Blues conceded 23 goals in the Premier League before his departure, and while that was a significant improvement on last season, it was not good enough to save Lampard from losing his job.<\/p>\n

Tuchel is yet to see his Chelsea side concede after keeping clean sheets over Wolverhampton Wanderers and Burnley. However, the German is looking to add to his defence in the summer, and S\u00fcle is one of several targets.<\/p>\n

The 25-year-old has been found regular starts at the Allianz Arena hard to come by this season. He has made just eight starts for Hansi Flick’s side in the Bundesliga this season due to the successful partnership of Jerome Boateng and David Alaba.<\/p>\n

As a result, the German international could be available for a move in the summer. When asked recently about the potential of him departing this summer, his manager remained particularly coy about the possibility.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is of course nice for us when other clubs are interested in our players,” he said<\/a>. “At the moment, the defence is doing very well and Niklas is definitely an option, both in central defence and as a full-back.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m very happy with his development. Niklas is a very fast player, who is very good on the ball, detached and with the ability to make an impact on the game from the back.”<\/p>\n

S\u00fcle could act as a replacement for Thiago Silva, who is currently set to leave the club in the summer.<\/p>\n

Do Chelsea Have Other Targets?<\/h3>\n

According to the report, the Munich centre-back is one of three targets Chelsea have, with S\u00fcle’s teammate David Alaba on the list.<\/p>\n

If Bayern were to lose either of the pair, they will make a move for RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano.<\/p>\n
