After an uneventful spell on loan at Tottenham Hotspur<\/a>, Gedson Fernandes<\/a> has unsurprisingly been recalled to Benfica<\/a>, and he will now join Galatasaray<\/a> for the next six months on loan.<\/p>\n

Having not performed the way he was expected to at Spurs, he’ll be looking to kick on at a less prestigious club where he’ll be given more of a chance.<\/p>\n

Gedson Fernandes Leaves Tottenham Hotspur and Joins Galatasaray<\/h2>\n

Not in Jose Mourinho’s Plans<\/h3>\n

Despite all the excitement surrounding Fernandes’s initial loan move to Spurs, he never really got the opportunity to shine. The option to buy him for shows just how promising he was 12 months ago.<\/p>\n

However, he leaves Tottenham having not made a single start in the Premier League, so clearly, it was not the right club for him to maximize his potential. The massive midfield options at Mourinho’s disposal, including Tanguy Ndombele<\/a>, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg<\/a>, and Harry Winks<\/a>, meant Fernandes was always on the periphery.<\/p>\n

He did not score in any competition, and it’s safe to say his absence won’t really affect Mourinho’s plans.<\/p>\n

Exciting Opportunity to Develop at Galatasaray<\/h3>\n

While Galatasaray is obviously not Tottenham Hotspur, they have a very demanding, passionate fanbase who will require him to give his all for the team. The Turkish Superliga is also a physical, gritty league, similar to the Premier League, so he’ll have to fight in order to get significant minutes.<\/p>\n

However, quality-wise, the two clubs are very different. There’s no Harry Kane<\/a> or Son Heung-min<\/a> at Galatasaray. This means that while he may not be competing at the same level, he’ll certainly be given more of a chance to show his quality.<\/p>\n

One failed loan spell shouldn’t, and won’t, define his career, so if he can kick on and show what he can do at Galatasaray, it could be excellent news for him. Hopefully, for him, his time at Spurs becomes a distant memory in an otherwise excellent career.<\/p>\n
