Oxford United have signed striker Elliot Lee<\/a> from Championship outfit Luton Town. The 26-year-old is the U’s second signing of the day.<\/p>\n

Second Loan Signing of the Day<\/h3>\n

Elliot Lee follows Blackburn Rovers defender Joe Grayson<\/a> through the doors at Grenoble Road. Grayson is a centre back who can also cover as a left-back.<\/p>\n

Lee is an out-and-out striker who is also comfortable on the left-wing, giving manager Karl Robinson more options for his much-used three up-top formation.<\/p>\n

Lee at Luton<\/h3>\n

Having joined Luton in 2017, Lee was part of the Hatters side that secured back to back promotions from League Two to the Championship.<\/p>\n

During his time at Kenilworth Road, the 26-year-old has scored 30 goals from 122 appearances, adding a further nine assists.<\/p>\n

This season, Lee has scored once from 12 Championship appearances.<\/p>\n

Having started his career at West Ham United<\/a>, he made a breakthrough in the U23 side where he found the net 22 times from 49 appearances. He scored once for the senior side from seven outings.<\/p>\n

Lee spent time on loan at Colchester United twice, Southend United, Luton and Blackpool before signing for Barnsley. However, he managed just six appearances for the Championship side and joined for Luton permanently the following season.<\/p>\n

Karl Robinson Pleased With Addition of Lee<\/h3>\n

U’s boss Karl Robinson said<\/a>: “He\u2019s a clever player. He can play up front or just behind the striker, he works hard and makes good things happen around the penalty<\/u> box.<\/p>\n

“He has obviously won promotion at Luton so he knows what it takes to be successful at this level and we think he will play a major role for us in the second half of the season.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lee added: \u201cI\u2019ve always enjoyed playing against Karl Robinson\u2019s teams because they always play good football and I think the way they are set up will really suit how I like to play as well.<\/p>\n

“I look at the facilities here and the players in the squad and I think everything is set up for a real push from now until the end of the season and I can\u2019t wait to be a part of that.\u201d<\/p>\n
