Orlando City striker Daryl Dike<\/a> has joined Barnsley<\/a> on loan for the rest of the season. The deal includes an option to buy should the striker impress.<\/p>\n

The 20-year-old has been prolific in the MLS, scoring eight times in 17 matches during the 2020 season.<\/p>\n

He is Barnsley\u2019s third signing in this transfer window<\/a> as Valerien Ismael<\/a> looks to bolster his attack for a busy second half of the season.<\/p>\n

The teenage striker has been a breakout star in the MLS scoring all kinds of goals for Orlando City. He had an impressive 2020 in what a disruptive year for the league. Eight goals and two assists in 17 matches is impressive for any player.<\/p>\n

He now hopes to carry those qualities into a new country and new league. The Championship<\/a> takes no prisoners and he will learn the difficulties that the league presents. However, he has plenty of talent and all the attributes needed to succeed in a vibrant, young Barnsley<\/a> side.<\/p>\n

The Tykes are having a great season, a huge contrast to last campaign’s struggles. They look like genuine promotion contenders but need to get back to winning ways. Ismael\u2019s side have not emerged victorious from any of their last five games \u2013 their longest streak since the French manager took over in October.<\/p>\n

Speaking to the Barnsley website<\/a> about the club\u2019s new signing, Chief Executive Dane Murphy said: \u201cMost of the club\u2019s work was completed early in this window, but we\u2019re ecstatic to get a player of Daryl\u2019s calibre into the squad.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe has had a rapid rise in his career over the last two years showing he possesses a tonne of talent. The club believe he will undoubtedly prove a real asset between now and May.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt has been well documented that Val\u00e9rien wanted to strengthen his forward line and in the short-term, this addition goes someway to accomplish that.<\/p>\n
