Bristol City secured their first Women\u2019s Super League victory of the season on January 30 with a 3-0 win over fellow strugglers Brighton & Hove Albion<\/a>, in a big bottom-of-the-table clash at Twerton Park.<\/p>\n

That was the highlight of a weekend which also saw the top teams also picking up three points.<\/p>\n

Ebony Salmon Scores Twice in First Women’s Super League Victory for Bristol City<\/h2>\n

A Much-Needed Women’s Super League Victory for Bristol City<\/h3>\n

Ebony Salmon<\/a>\u2019s brace and a superb looping strike from Yana Daniels<\/a> gave the Vixens a much-needed first win of the season to move within two points of West Ham United<\/a> and Aston Villa<\/a> in tenth and 11th positions respectively, albeit having played one more game than both clubs.<\/p>\n

The result drags Brighton<\/a> back into the relegation picture with nine points from 13 games, having played one more game than City.<\/p>\n

Chelsea Extend Their Women’s Super League Unbeaten Run<\/h3>\n

There were also some big results at the top end of the table, as league leaders Chelsea<\/a> extended their record unbeaten run<\/a> in the Women\u2019s Super League to 33 games with an emphatic 4-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur.<\/a><\/p>\n

Melanie Leupolz<\/a> scored a brace, which included a penalty and a stunning long-range strike, while Sam Kerr<\/a>\u2019s header and an Abbie McManus<\/a> own goal sealed a resounding win.<\/p>\n

Wins for Both Manchester Clubs<\/h3>\n

Manchester United<\/a> kept pace with Chelsea at the top of the table with a hard-fought 2-0 win away at Everton<\/a>, thanks to goals from Ella Toone<\/a> and Christen Press<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The result leaves United in second place with 32 points and only behind the Blues on goal difference, but Casey Stoney<\/a>\u2019s side have played one game more than their title rivals.<\/p>\n

Manchester City<\/a> proved they are still firmly in the race for top spot with a commanding 4-0 win of their own over West Ham United<\/a>.<\/p>\n

A goal each from Caroline Weir<\/a>, Georgia Stanway<\/a>, Ellen White<\/a> and Rose Lavelle<\/a> secured all three points for City, in a result that leaves them third and five points adrift of Chelsea.<\/p>\n

Aston Villa Against Arsenal Postponed<\/h3>\n

One game fell victim to the weather, as a waterlogged pitch at the Banks\u2019 Stadium saw\u00a0Aston Villa\u2019s encounter with Arsenal postponed<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The next round of Women\u2019s Super League fixtures takes place on February 6 and 7, with arguably the two most eye-catching games seeing Arsenal<\/a> host Man City, while Bristol City visit West Ham\u00a0 \u2013 the latter game having big ramifications in the battle for survival.<\/p>\n
