Following the news that no flights will be allowed into Germany from the United Kingdom until February 17, the game between RB Leipzig<\/a> and Liverpool<\/a> could be forced into being played at a neutral venue, according to the Liverpool Echo.<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

The tie is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, February 16, one day before the flight ban is lifted.<\/span><\/p>\n

Other Options Discussed<\/span><\/h3>\n

Among the options reportedly<\/a> discussed is the already mentioned venue change. Other options reportedly include switching the legs around so that the first leg takes place at Anfield and the second leg in Leipzig when the travel ban should be lifted.<\/span><\/p>\n

Liverpool are yet to receive any confirmation on the game, and whether they’ll be able to travel. As the weeks go by, further options will likely be discussed.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

One thing that is clear is the impact COVID-19 is now having on football- particularly in England. Games across all four divisions have faced postponement this season including games for Aston Villa<\/a>, Everton<\/a> and Manchester City.<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

In the football League, particularly, COVID-19 has had an impact with several teams forced to re-arrange games every week- leaving them with games in hand.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The postponement of those fixtures has thrown the league season into doubt. As things stand, however, the campaign will continue.<\/span><\/p>\n

European Football Under Threat Due to COVID-19<\/span><\/h3>\n

With the game between Leipzig and Liverpool already thrown into question, it is no doubt that many games will follow suit as several countries attempt to reduce the threat of COVID-19.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Last season, the Champions League<\/a> was forced into a change of format going into the last eight. This time around, the competition may be forced into more changes with the virus’ threat more prevalent than last season.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The hope will be that, by February, the threat will have died down and European football will be able to go ahead as planned.<\/span><\/p>\n
