This week proved to be a much quieter time for Luton Town,<\/a> with just the sole match against Blackburn Rovers to prepare for. Transfer rumours also seemed to die down over the last seven days, despite reaching the concluding stages of the transfer window.<\/p>\n

Luton Town Weekly Round-Up: Late Frustration at Blackburn<\/h2>\n

Forward Situation Remains a Big Talking Point at Luton Town<\/h3>\n

As January concluded, the general consensus was that a striker with confidence would have certainly helped The Town pick up more points. It concluded a month where The Hatters were expected to fall for short with ties against Brentford, AFC Bournemouth<\/a> and Blackburn Rovers, but ultimately, Luton played with confidence and were unlucky in their defeats to The Bees and Rovers.<\/a><\/p>\n

A theme emerged during January that appeared to gather pace the longer the month wore on, and that was enjoying good spells of attacking play, without converting at the end. Fans were quick to take aim at centre-forward James Collins<\/a>, whilst others were as quick to judge.<\/p>\n

Luton – who lack the financial resources to compete with their Championship counterparts in the transfer market – have been openly interested in adding a forward<\/a> to their ranks during this transfer window, but are yet to strike a deal.<\/p>\n

Late Drama at Ewood Park as Blackburn Take All Three Points<\/h3>\n

With a rare mid-week rest, The Hatters were on the road again. And, this time the destination was Lancashire to face the top goal-scorers in the division in Blackburn.<\/p>\n

Luton once again performed well, limiting the free-scoring hosts to a rare sight of goal. As the game progressed, Luton started to insert their dominance, but all their hard work was undone in the 86th minute when Adam Armstrong<\/a> nodded home rather controversially to secure a 1-0 victory for the home side. The eventual winner came seconds after play resumed following Dan Potts<\/a>‘ injury. From play restarting, the ball was pumped into the box, finding the head of Sam Gallagher<\/a> who nodded it down to the on-rushing Armstrong.<\/p>\n

Two minutes later, Harry Cornick<\/a> thought he had scored his first goal of the season and an all-important point for The Hatters, only for the linesman to rule it out for off-side.<\/p>\n

Most Difficult Month on Paper Completed<\/h3>\n

After such late disappointment, the good news is that the toughest month on paper has now passed. February brings around a different type of test, with Luton’s seemingly easier month expected to make more chances for Collins, who is now without a goal since his hat-trick against Preston North-End<\/a> eight games ago.<\/p>\n

The Town still sit closer to the play-off positions than they do the relegation zone, and with most fans expected to be content with any finish that comfortably avoids the drop, Luton are certainly in a good enough position.<\/p>\n
