Nottingham Forest have secured the services of Glenn Murray<\/a> until the end of the season. The forward’s arrival boosts competition in a weak attacking department.<\/p>\n

Glenn Murray Joins Nottingham Forest Until End of the Season<\/h2>\n

Forward’s Arrival Bolsters Attacking Options<\/h3>\n

Chris Hughton has made his third signing of the window – and fourth of his tenure as Forest boss – with the addition of Glenn Murray.<\/p>\n

He arrives following the signing of Filip Krovinovic and James Garner. Anthony Knockaert also had his loan stay at Forest from Fulham extended for the rest of the season.<\/p>\n

Murray and Hughton, who worked together at Brighton & Hove Albion<\/a>, will link up again at Nottingham Forest on a permanent deal until the end of the season.<\/p>\n

The forward, whose Brighton contract is up for renewal this summer, becomes the second player to depart Watford in favour of a move to the Reds.<\/p>\n

On Saturday (January 30) the Reds announced the loan arrival of Garner<\/a> from Manchester United<\/a> – he had previously been with the Hornets before Ole Gunnar Solskjaer<\/a> recalled the midfielder.<\/p>\n

Murray joined Watford on a temporary basis last summer after falling out of favour at Brighton.<\/p>\n

But the 37-year-old has made only five Championship appearances for Watford and has failed to score so far this season.<\/p>\n

Arrival of Glenn Murray at Nottingham Forest Surprises Many and Disappoints More<\/h3>\n

Murray’s arrival at Nottingham Forest adds depth to the options available up-front for Chris Hughton.<\/p>\n

Lewis Grabban<\/a> scored 20 goals last season but, with just two strikes to his name this term, the Reds need to look elsewhere.<\/p>\n

Lyle Taylor<\/a> is Forest’s top-scorer so far, netting four goals, but the Reds have struggled to find the net throughout the season.<\/p>\n

It comes as a surprise, therefore, that Forest have seemingly put their trust in an individual who has not scored yet this season and is in a barren spell.<\/p>\n

He does, however, have a track record of performing as a player for Hughton. The 37-year-old has scored 52 goals in 127 games while under his former boss, so the Forest manager may be the man to get the best out of Murray.<\/p>\n

Young Forward’s Departure Made Even More Likely<\/h3>\n

The arrival of Murray makes Will Swan’s departure even more likely to happen. Whether a deal can be struck ahead of the deadline? The jury is out.<\/p>\n

League One side Ipswich Town have been linked with a loan move<\/a> for the talented forward, but the Reds have been hesitant to agree on such a before adding options up-front.<\/p>\n

It now means that, with Murray’s entry, Swan will head on loan somewhere – likely a League One<\/a> outfit – to continue his development away from the City Ground.<\/p>\n
