Reports have emerged that Oxford United<\/a> have rejected a transfer bid from Millwall for midfielder Cameron Brannagan<\/a>.<\/p>\n

According to a report by Football Insider,<\/a> The Us have turned down a \u00a3500,000 offer for the 24-year-old midfielder.<\/p>\n

Who is Cameron Brannagan?<\/h3>\n

Brannagan is a Liverpool<\/a> Academy graduate who went onto make three Premier League appearances for The Reds before being loaned to Fleetwood Town in 2017.<\/p>\n

Upon the completion of his loan, Brannagan signed a three-and-a-half-year deal with Oxford United in January 2018. He recently signed another extension keeping him at the club until the end of the 2022\/2023 season.<\/p>\n

Notching up over 100 appearances, Brannagan was a driving force in helping Oxford reach last season’s League One play-off final where they lost out on promotion to Wycombe Wanderers.<\/a><\/p>\n

Brannagan was a reported transfer target for Premier League new boys Leeds United<\/a>, but Oxford have always claimed that he would never be sold on the cheap.\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n

Millwall Looking for Midfield Reinforcements<\/h3>\n

Football Insider<\/a> report that Millwall are keen to bolster their midfield options before the end of the Transfer Window.<\/p>\n

Sitting eight points above the relegation zone, Millwall boss Gary Rowett has made no secret of trying to secure further targets before the January Transfer Window shuts.<\/p>\n

Speaking to South London Press<\/a>, Rowett started: “We\u2019ve put some good bids in for good players who are contracted at other clubs. Hopefully, we don\u2019t go to the wire because I don\u2019t think the best decisions are always made in the last few hours on transfer deadline.”<\/p>\n

It is unknown whether Millwall will come back in for Brannagan or will move onto different targets.<\/p>\n

A Difficult Season for Brannagan at Oxford United<\/h3>\n

2020\/2021 has been a difficult season for Cameron Brannagan. He has missed several months of the season with a rare eye infection that almost cost him his sight.<\/p>\n

Returning to the Oxford starting line up in January, he has made four consecutive first-team appearances and looks set to help Oxford with their playoff push.<\/p>\n

Speaking to the Oxford Mail<\/a> upon his return to the first team he said: \u201cI said to a few of the boys that sometimes we don\u2019t realise how lucky we are. Even when I was back running it was a big sigh of relief, because it\u2019s something I\u2019ve done since I was a kid. Just being out there and doing things I love felt so good.”<\/p>\n
