Championship strugglers Wycombe Wanderers have signed Oxford United’s Jordan Obita<\/a> for an undisclosed fee in a two-and-a-half-year deal.<\/p>\n

Wycombe have had a terrible season in the Championship and look destined for relegation back to League One. The Chairboys are bottom of the table with just three wins all season and are ten points from safety.<\/p>\n

The arrival of Obita will provide some much-needed strength down the left-hand side. The 27-year-old can cover as a left-back and a left midfielder, giving manager Gareth Ainsworth plenty of options.<\/p>\n

Obita made just short of 200 appearances for Reading, where he spent 19 years of his life having come up through the academy, before moving to Oxford United on a free transfer in October. He turned out 15 times for the U’s, scoring once.<\/p>\n

What Was Said<\/h3>\n

Speaking to the clubs’ official website<\/a>, Ainsworth said: \u201cJordan\u2019s got great experience at this level and is a player that we\u2019ve always been impressed by, both at Reading and the clubs he\u2019s played for on loan.<\/p>\n

“He\u2019s quick, he\u2019s got a good delivery and he can do both sides of the game, both defensively and going forward, so he\u2019ll be a really important addition to the squad for us.<\/p>\n

\u201cJoe Jacobson has made that left-back spot his own for seven years and rightly so because he\u2019s been an outstanding performer for us, but it\u2019s an area where we\u2019re light on cover and Jordan comes in to give us that extra option down the left side.\u201d<\/p>\n

Oxford Loss or Gain?<\/h3>\n

Despite only joining in November<\/a>, this could be seen a blow for Oxford. Having joined on a free, Obita has been a handy player on the left-hand side and provided competition as a left-back and left midfielder.<\/p>\n

However, with the emergence of Mide Shodipo and form of Josh Ruffels, game time has become less for the Oxford-born player and for the club to make money will be seen as a good bit of business.<\/p>\n
