Ever since Etienne Capoue left Watford at the beginning of the transfer window<\/a>, it has been suspected that the Watford hierarchy want to bring in a replacement. With the January transfer window only a couple of days away from shutting, the Hornets are running short on time. Watford have been in talks for potential transfers, though are ultimately missing out on their targets.<\/p>\n

Watford Likely to Miss Out on Capoue Replacement<\/h2>\n

Henri Lansbury Seals Bristol City Move<\/h3>\n

Henri Lansbury<\/a> spent the 2009\/10 campaign with Watford, a season in which he scored five times and created four goals. The now 30-year-old only featured for Aston Villa<\/a> in Carabao Cup matches this season. Since joining in 2017 from Nottingham Forest<\/a>, his role in Dean Smith\u2019s side gradually decreased.<\/p>\n

The Hornets were linked with signing Lansbury before the end of the transfer window. However, Championship rivals Bristol City<\/a> have swooped in for his signature.<\/p>\n

Watford Talks for James Lea Siliki Hit Stumbling Block<\/h3>\n

Last week, Watford reportedly opened talks with Rennes and James Lea Siliki\u2019s representatives.<\/a> The player desires a move to Watford, despite links to Italy and Spain. Lea Siliki<\/a> feels as if England, the Championship, in particular, is the best place to elevate his play.<\/p>\n

The French 24-year-old, who was Ismaila Sarr\u2019s<\/a> teammate at Rennes<\/a> a couple of seasons ago, is now finding his transfer temporarily blocked. According to the Watford Observer<\/a> and reports from France, Rennes are reluctant to do more business with the Hornets following an unpaid instalment of around 8 million pounds from the Sarr deal in 2019.<\/p>\n

Rennes feels as if they should have the funds by now. They do not want to risk being kept waiting by Watford yet again.<\/p>\n

This transfer is not totally off the cards just yet. The deal, if it is to occur, will be a loan with either an option or obligation to buy at the season. But, considering the Hornets\u2019 interest is shifting elsewhere and to no avail, the arrival of a Capoue replacement in this transfer window is increasingly unlikely.<\/p>\n
