Tottenham Hotspur<\/a> will be without Sergio Reguilon<\/a> in Thursday’s clash with Premier League champions Liverpool<\/a>. The summer signing has suffered a muscle injur<\/a>y and will be out of action for the next three weeks.<\/p>\n

Sergio Reguilon Injury Comes at a Bad Time for Tottenham<\/h3>\n

There is never a good time for a player to suffer an injury, but Reguilon’s time out could not have come at a worse time for the North London club. The full-back – who has hit the ground running since his summer move<\/a> from Real Madrid<\/a> – remained an unused substitute in Tottenham’s<\/a> 4-1 win over Wycombe Wanderers earlier on in the week, before he underwent a scan on Wednesday determining the nature of the injury.<\/p>\n

With the Spaniard set to miss the Liverpool<\/a> clash, he is also expected to miss Spurs’ home tie against Thomas Tuchel’<\/a>s Chelsea<\/a>. The left-back is also likely to miss away trips to Everton<\/a> and Manchester City<\/a>, but he is likely to be back ahead of their round of 32 tie against Wolfsberger AC on February 18, before making a league return just a couple of days later against high-flying West Ham United<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Left-Back Crisis in North London<\/h3>\n

Ben Davies<\/a> is the only other out and out left-back Spurs possess in their current first-team squad, but the Welshman could also miss out after being forced off in stoppage time against Wycombe. The club remain hopeful that Davies will pass late fitness tests, but 90 minutes of football could inflict further damage. Young defender Japhet Tanganga<\/a> would be an option if the left-back duo of Reguilon and Davies are both unable to play, but it would be quite an unfamiliar role for the young academy graduate against high-quality opposition.<\/p>\n

It does not seem likely, but Spurs could still use the final days of the transfer window for full-back cover. Although, in three weeks, it is probable that Reguilon and Davies will both be fit and the need of such cover will diminish.<\/p>\n
