32-year-old Papu Gomez<\/a> has officially<\/a> completed a move to La Liga<\/a> side Sevilla from Atalanta<\/a>. The news comes as a result of the Argentine becoming unhappy in Italy at Atalanta.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The move will delight those in Sevilla with Gomez arriving having played a pivotal part in Atalanta’s success last season. As for Atalanta, they’ll be devastated to lose a central figure to their success and captain of the team in Papu Gomez.<\/span><\/p>\n

When without him this season, the Italian side have struggled to replicate their impressive form of last campaign. Now, without Gomez on a permanent basis, their hopes of Champions League<\/a> qualification will be thrown into doubt.<\/span><\/p>\n

With Gomez’ ability to create from nothing a feature for all to see last season, the battle to secure his signature was always going to be a difficult one. Yet, here Sevilla are having secured the Argentine at the halfway mark of the season.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The former Atalanta captain could prove to be the difference-maker in the Spaniard’s pursuit of Champions League football. As it stands, Sevilla sit fourth, one point behind Barcelona<\/a>. With Gomez now secured, however, that gap could become non-existent by the end of the season.<\/span><\/p>\n

With Borussia Dortmund<\/a> coming up in the Champions League, too, Sevilla will be keen to instantly implement the attacking influence of Papu Gomez who enjoyed some ride in the competition last season.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

For all parties, the transfer makes perfect sense. Gomez has his move; Sevilla have their man, and Atalanta have an issue resolved.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The focus for all will now shift to the second half of the season and the pursuit of Champions League football; a pursuit Gomez could play an integral part in.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

With La Liga top goalscorer Youssef En-Nesyri<\/a> to provide for, Gomez should excel at Sevilla.<\/span><\/p>\n
