Paris Saint-Germain<\/a> full-back Juan Bernat<\/a> is out of contract this summer and could depart from the French giants, according to Mundo Deportivo.<\/a>\u00a0 The expected availability of the 27-year-old – who has been injured since September – has sparked the interest <\/a>of Barcelona<\/a>, who are looking to bring Bernat back to his home country.<\/p>\n

Juan Bernat Expected to Be Offloaded This Summer by Paris Saint-Germain<\/h2>\n

A Season Disrupted With Injury<\/h3>\n

Worryingly for a potential suitor, Bernat has not played much football over the past year. The devastating impacts of COVID-19 in France, forced the curtailment of the Ligue 1 season in mid-March<\/a>, meaning when the full-back played his first game of this season, it had been six months since he had last been involved in competitive action.<\/p>\n

The Spanish left-back lasted just 27 minutes into the third game of the season before suffering a serious ACL injury. Four months later, and the club are no clearer on when Bernat will be available to play once again, causing for discussions about his contract situation.<\/p>\n

With the Spaniard’s contract running out in the summer, it seems that PSG<\/a> would prefer to offload Bernat. But, with a lack of progress in his recovery, Europe’s elite may struggle to justify such a move.<\/p>\n

Barcelona Could Agree Pre-Contract Deal With PSG and Bernat<\/h3>\n

Despite the perceived risk of signing such a player, Barcelona<\/a> have expressed an interest in Bernat. The Spanish champions expect to be left with just the single left-back after this January transfer window with speculation around Junior Firpo<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Catalan club would have two options in their pursuit of Bernat, with the first scenario being that Barcelona<\/a> and PSG<\/a> accept a pre-contract agreement ahead of a summer move. Another option for Barcelona would be to sign the PSG man now and pay a small fee, allowing Ronald Koeman<\/a> a secondary left-back option once fit.<\/p>\n
