Cardiff City<\/a> are set to make Mick McCarthy their next manager after sacking Neil Harris,<\/a> according to reports.<\/a><\/p>\n

Neil Harris Relieved Of Duties<\/h3>\n

The Bluebirds are currently sat in 15th place in the league and have lost their last five Championship<\/a> games. It\u2019s been enough to warrant the sacking of Harris, who took over at the club back in November 2019.<\/p>\n

He took the club to the playoffs last season but was unable to lead them to promotion and after a shaky start to the current campaign, he has now been relieved of his duties.<\/p>\n

It seems as though the club\u2019s board see McCarthy<\/a> as the right man to now lead the club forward, with the second-tier side set to announce him as their next manager.<\/p>\n

Taken Charge at APOEL and Republic of Ireland<\/h3>\n

His last stint as a boss was at APOEL in the Cypriot league. Before that, he was also tasked with handling the Republic of Ireland national team.<\/p>\n

McCarthy does also have experience of managing in the second tier, which he can use to his advantage if given the reigns at Cardiff. He was manager of Ipswich Town for six years and even led them to the Championship play-offs – no mean feat, considering that the Tractor Boys are now playing their football in League One.<\/p>\n

He\u2019s also no stranger to title victories. He\u2019s won the second tier title with both Sunderland<\/a> and Wolverhampton Wanderers<\/a> and knows therefore what it takes to lead a side to victory in the league.<\/p>\n

The length of McCarthy\u2019s contract is yet to be revealed and he is yet to be officially unveiled as the next manager but Cardiff will be hoping that the manager can lead them back to the right end of the Championship table, as they look to try and return to the Premier League as soon as they can with the new boss at the helm.<\/p>\n
