Leicester City<\/a> have stepped away from a deal to sign Inter Milan<\/a> midfielder Christian Eriksen<\/a>, reports John Percy of the Telegraph.<\/a> The Danish midfielder had been linked with a move back to the Premier League, but the finances involved has led The Foxes to abandon their pursuit.<\/p>\n

The Dane’s current wages are around the \u00a3300,000-a-week mark, a figure that Leicester<\/a> could not possibly justify, given that only Jamie Vardy<\/a> and Kasper Schmeichel<\/a>‘s wages exceed \u00a3100,000.<\/a><\/p>\n

Because of such finances, it seemed that a loan-deal was going to be the explored option. But, with Inter<\/a> adamant that Leicester<\/a> would be paying his full salary, nothing is set to materialise between the two clubs. Tottenham Hotspur<\/a> have also been given the same message from the Italian side, seemingly preventing the 28-year-old from making a return to the North London club.<\/p>\n

Fabrizio Romano also confirmed<\/a> that there had not been an official approach from Manchester United<\/a> – another Premier League team keeping an eye on the midfielder.<\/p>\n

Leicester Still Need to Solve Their Midfield Conundrum<\/h3>\n

The search for a midfielder was initiated by the long-term hamstring injury Dennis Praet<\/a> suffered last week. Fellow midfielder Hamza Choudhury<\/a> is also expected to make a move<\/a> before the window shuts on February 1, meaning that a midfielder becomes the club’s number one priority.<\/p>\n

Leicester’s unfortunate midfield situation nearly forced The Foxes to recall Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall<\/a> from Championship club Luton Town<\/a>. Although the 22-year-old has enjoyed a very successful loan stint with The Hatters thus far, it seemed too far of a leap for the young midfielder.<\/p>\n

The Foxes have also been linked with a move for Real Madrid’<\/a>s Martin Odegaard<\/a>. The Norwegian international had emerged as an Arsenal<\/a> target earlier on in the week, but it seems Leicester have also enquired about the possibility of a loan move.<\/a><\/p>\n
