Swansea City<\/a> midfielder Jay Fulton<\/a> has extended his contract until the end of the 2023\/24 season. The 26 l-year-old joined the club from Falkirk in 2014 and his new deal could see him reach the ten-year mark at the club.<\/p>\n

Fulton Commits Future to Swansea<\/h3>\n

The former Scotland U21 international, whose previous deal was set to expire at the end of the season, has been a key part of Swansea’s strong first half of the season in the Championship. Swansea lie in second place in the English second tier and are set for a strong promotion push. With goalkeeper Ben Hamer<\/a> already signed this January and Jordan Morris<\/a> to join from Seattle Sounders to bolster the attack, Fulton’s contract extension comes at a busy time for the Swans.<\/p>\n

Fulton has played 19 Championship games for Swansea so far in the 2020\/21 season, scoring one goal. However, he is a vital component of their midfield and losing him in the summer for free would have been a huge blow.<\/p>\n

Steve Cooper Delighted With Fulton<\/h3>\n

Swansea boss Steve Cooper couldn’t be happier with Fulton, who has formed a strong midfield partnership with club captain Matt Grimes. Speaking to Swansea’s website, Cooper said<\/a>: “For me, Jay is in really good form.<\/p>\n

“We’re only halfway there so we’re only looking forward but, I’ve got to tell you, I think he’s contributed an awful lot this season.<\/p>\n

“I can’t tell you how professional he is. He’s the ultimate team player or squad member if you like. He’s always put everything else before him, a selfless individual.”<\/p>\n

In total, Fulton has made 122 appearances for the south Wales side, scoring eight goals in that time. He will be a key component of a Swansea side looking to secure a return to the Premier League.<\/p>\n
