\u00a0Crystal Palace<\/a> have confirmed that German midfielder Max Meyer has left the club after two-and-a-half years with the club.<\/p>\n

After joining the club in 2018 with plenty of promise, Meyer enjoyed a tough spell at Selhurst Park. He made 56 appearances in all competition, scoring just two goals.<\/p>\n

Finding his best position and how he fitted into the team proved to be the German’s downfall in South London. The 25-year-old is best suited to a role in the centre of midfield, but he often struggled to cope with the physicality of the Premier League.<\/p>\n

As a result, he was shifted out wide into a left midfield role. However, he again struggled to cope with the physicality. His impact during his time with the club showed that they perhaps won’t miss him. Eberechi Eze<\/a> has looked more threatening since joining last summer than Meyer.<\/p>\n

As a result, it perhaps best for all parties that the German moves on. Speaking recently about Meyer, Palace manager, Roy Hodgson, said:<\/a> “I wouldn\u2019t be surprised if Max is knocking on the door to move on.<\/p>\n

“If that\u2019s the case I would have to reluctantly agree he\u2019s not been given the chances here to show what he can do \u2013 as he would like. If someone is going to give him that chance it would have to be considered.”<\/p>\n

Club Statement<\/h3>\n

The news was confirmed by the Eagles via a short statement on the club website<\/a>. It said: “Max Meyer has left Crystal Palace Football Club by mutual consent.<\/p>\n

“The German midfielder made 56 appearances for the club, scoring twice, since his move to south London in the summer of 2018.<\/p>\n

“Everyone at Crystal Palace F.C. thanks Max for his efforts whilst with us, and wishes him all the very best for the future.”<\/p>\n
