Paris Saint-Germain<\/a> manager Mauricio Pochettino<\/a> has tested positive for COVID-19, the club confirmed. Pochettino has recently been appointed<\/a> as the new manager of PSG and was on the sidelines for the Troph\u00e9e des Champions victory over Marseille<\/a> on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

According to the official PSG statement<\/a>, assistants Jesus Perez and Miguel D\u2019Agostino will be in charge of the upcoming Ligue 1<\/a> fixture against Angers<\/a> on Saturday. Regarding the next steps for Pochettino, it was stated<\/a>: “He will now be in isolation and follow the appropriate medical advice.”<\/p>\n

The 48-year-old manager won his first trophy with PSG on Wednesday against Marseille in the Troph\u00e9e des Champions final. He has managed three matches so far for PSG and has yet to suffer a defeat at the helm of the reigning Ligue 1 champions.<\/p>\n

After the match against Angers on Saturday, PSG have two remaining fixtures in January against Montpellier<\/a> and Lorient<\/a>. They enter this weekend’s fixtures in second place in Ligue 1 as they trail Lyon<\/a> by just one point in the table<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Another Positive Test for PSG<\/h3>\n

Currently, there are three players listed as unavailable for selection due to positive COVID-19 tests over the course of the last two weeks. The club’s most recent medical report<\/a> lists Rafinha<\/a>, Colin Dagba<\/a>, and Thilo Kehrer<\/a> as remaining sidelined due to COVID-19. The club has had a number of players test positive since the start of the 2020\/21 season. In September<\/a>, stars Neymar<\/a> and Angel Di Maria<\/a> tested positive. Now, after just a few weeks at the club, new manager Pochettino has tested positive.<\/p>\n

As each positive test comes across European football, too, the worry for the season’s finish will increase. Many will be worrying that a similar pause will occur to that \u00a0of last season following the first lockdown,<\/p>\n
