Salford City have confirmed that they have signed Leeds United<\/a> midfielder Robbie Gotts<\/a> on loan until the end of the season.<\/p>\n

The 21-year-old spent<\/a> the first half of the season on loan with League One side Lincoln City before being recalled by his parent club.<\/p>\n

Lack of Game Time With Lincoln<\/h3>\n

The 21-year-old could not settle and find a regular spot in the line-up during his team with Lincoln City. He was tried at both right-back and in the midfield, but manager Michael Appleton tended to favour other players over him.<\/p>\n

Gotts made 12 appearances during his time at the LNER Stadium, the last of which came in a 4-0<\/a> over Accrington Stanley in the Papa John’s Trophy. It was arguably his best performance of the season so far – he was comfortable in possession and covered large swathes of the pitch. He also registered the first goal of his career via a diving header.<\/p>\n

The performance was a complete contrast to his debut in an Imps shirt, which came at right-back in a 3-1 defeat at home to Portsmouth. It showed that he is not as comfortable in that position as he is the centre of midfield, as the 21-year-old struggled to contain the visiting wingers.<\/p>\n

What Was Said?<\/h3>\n

Speaking about his move to the official Salford City website<\/a>, Gotts said: “<\/em>I\u2019m really looking forward to it, as soon as the Club was interested really I think that was my main priority to come here.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe manager spoke to me, there\u2019s been previous conversation before and I\u2019m just really happy to be here.\u201d<\/p>\n

His new boss, Richie Wellens, said: \u201c<\/em>He\u2019s a young up and coming midfielder at Leeds United, he\u2019s been involved in a couple of Championship games and a cup game away at Arsenal.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s got loads and loads of energy and I think he will complement the other midfielders very well, he comes fresh from a loan spell at Lincoln who are flying, and comes with a good recommendation.\u201d<\/p>\n
