Queens Park Rangers<\/a> have signed Hull City<\/a> defender Jordy de Wijs<\/a> on loan. The deal has the option to become permanent if the defender impresses.<\/p>\n

The centre back joins the R\u2019s for the remainder of the season and becomes the clubs second signing of the transfer window.<\/p>\n

De Wijs has struggled for game time at Hull City since their relegation from the Championship<\/a> last season, making just nine appearances for the Tigers this campaign.<\/p>\n

The giant centre half has only made seven League One appearances this season, but hasn’t been a part of the last nine games.<\/p>\n

He was a key figure at the club until he was frozen out, captaining the side under Grant McCann. De Wijs arrives looking to shore up a QPR defence which has struggled for clean sheets this season.<\/p>\n

The R\u2019s are battling relegation but did pick up a win in their last game against Luton Town. De Wijs joins a side with renewed confidence after that crucial win.<\/p>\n

De Wijs could make his debut this weekend against fellow strugglers Wycombe Wanderers. A crucial tie for both sides in the Championship relegation battle.<\/p>\n

Speaking to the QPR website<\/a> about his move, De Wijs said: \u201cI am really happy. This is a step up again and I am very happy to be here.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a big club with a good stadium, great fans and for me, it’s brilliant to be back in the Championship and play at this level again.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am a defender with abilities to play football. I am a robust defender. I like to get challenges in and don\u2019t mind a bit of physical contact. As a person, I am honest and direct.<\/p>\n

\u201cI want to get myself match fit and play as many games as possible. Hopefully, it won\u2019t take too long. I will do everything to get back on the pitch as soon as possible and give everything for this club.\u201d<\/p>\n
