Brighton & Hove Albion<\/a> have moved one step closer to signing Moises Caicedo<\/a> after agreeing a fee with Independiente del Valle. Fabrizio Romano<\/a> reports that the two sides have agreed a \u20ac6 million sum for the midfielder, who had once been a target for a host of other Premier League clubs, including Manchester United.<\/p>\n

The agreement of the fee with the Ecuadorian clubs has left Brighton confident that they can complete the deal for the promising teenager.<\/p>\n

Graham Potter’s side are now just waiting for a work permit for Caicedo before they can complete the transfer<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Manchester United had been long-term admirers of Caicedo while Everton<\/a> had also emerged as candidates to land his signature in recent weeks.<\/p>\n

Chelsea had also been credited with an interest in the 19-year-old, while Romano reports that Newcastle United have been trying to secure a deal with him for the last few days.<\/p>\n

Brighton, though, are leading the way and should get the deal done comfortably before the end of the January transfer window.<\/p>\n

The work permit is not expected to be an issue. When Caicedo was being heavily linked with Manchester United, journalist James Nalton gave a breakdown of the work permit points<\/a> Caicedo had under the new requirements following Britain’s exit from the European Union.<\/p>\n
