Everton<\/a> have reportedly entered the race to sign Ecuador international midfielder Moises Caicedo<\/a>, that is according to Diario Extra (via Sport Witness)<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Premier League<\/a> side face competition from an unnamed Major League Soccer side.<\/p>\n

Other European clubs, including Chelsea<\/a> and Manchester United<\/a>, have been reportedly interested<\/a> in Caicedo, however, Independiente del Valle general manager Santiago Morales<\/a> has dismissed talk of any contact with the Red Devils.<\/p>\n

Everton Join Race to Sign Moises Caicedo<\/h2>\n

Promising Midfielder<\/h3>\n

Moises Caicedo, 19, has burst onto the scene in recent months as one of Ecuador’s most promising talents. Caicedo is a defensive-minded central midfielder. At his young age, he has already represented the national team on four occasions, scoring in a 4-2 win<\/a> over Uruguay in World Cup qualifying.<\/p>\n

Despite being able to perform the holding midfield role, Caicedo has shown an ability to score goals and provide goals too. Adding to his goal, he has provided three assists for his country in those four appearances. In his 31 senior games for Independiente del Valle, he has scored six goals, assisting twice.<\/p>\n

Having become so influential in such a small amount of games for Ecuador, it is no surprise to see his name linked with some of Europe’s finest football clubs.<\/p>\n

General Manager Confirms Discussions With European and MLS Clubs<\/h3>\n

Independiente del Valle general manager Santiago Morales has confirmed the club have received proposals for the transfer<\/a> of Moises Caicedo.<\/p>\n

Morales told Mundo Deportivo EC (via Sport Witness)<\/a>: “We have received a proposal from a European club for (Caicedo). We are also looking at an MLS proposal.<\/p>\n

“Let’s hope that no later than Thursday we can close the negotiation for Moises Caicedo.”<\/p>\n

Caicedo’s departure is likely, as Morales previously told Radio La Red (via Sport Witness)<\/a>: “We believe we will not have him this year.”<\/p>\n

Morales was kind enough to dismiss any communication with Manchester United, telling the same outlet: “We haven’t had any communication with Manchester United. We are surprised that they even talk about values, but we haven’t spoken with Manchester United.”<\/p>\n

Brands Keen on South American Recruitment<\/h3>\n

Diario Extra add that Caicedo’s current club are waiting to see who puts the most money on the table for the Ecuadorian’s signature.<\/p>\n

As added by the Liverpool Echo<\/a>, Everton director of football Marcel Brands<\/a> is keen on recruiting players from South America.<\/p>\n

Caicedo would not be the first Ecuadorian to represent the Toffees, who have previously fielded Segundo Castillo<\/a> and Enner Valencia<\/a>.<\/p>\n
