Jurgen Klopp<\/a> will not face any FA action for criticising the referee after\u00a0Liverpool<\/a>‘s 1-0 defeat to Southampton<\/a>, according to The Athletic<\/a>. He felt that Sadio Mane<\/a> should have received a penalty after former Tottenham Hotspur<\/a> defender Kyle Walker-Peters<\/a> tackled the winger inside the box.<\/p>\n

Jurgen Klopp Not to Face FA Action After Referee Criticism<\/h2>\n

Liverpool Drop Points Again<\/h3>\n

Liverpool have not dominated the Premier League<\/a> as much this season as they did last year<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Reds were already the\u00a0runaway leaders by this time last year, and by the end of January, it looked highly unlikely that they would fail to win their first Premier League title in the 2019\/20 campaign.<\/p>\n

Now, though, things look much more complicated for the Merseyside team.<\/p>\n

Their away form this season has been dreadful, and in a table of league matches played away from home this season, they rank 11th. Liverpool have not been as magnificent at home this season either, recently drawing with relegation-battling West Bromwich Albion<\/a>\u00a0at Anfield.<\/p>\n

Now, their title hopes have suffered a further dent<\/a> as they fell to a 1-0 defeat at Southampton. A Danny Ings<\/a> goal inside two minutes, some fantastic defending, and, in the eyes of Klopp, some poor refereeing was enough to see the result through for the South Coast side.<\/p>\n

Liverpool’s latest slip up leaves them with just two points from their last possible nine in the league, and allows arch-rivals Manchester United the opportunity to take top spot when they play Burnley<\/a> on January 12. United and Liverpool then meet on the 17th, in what is shaping up to be a must-win for both.<\/p>\n

Klopp Not to Face Action After Criticism<\/h3>\n

The Liverpool manager was not pleased with the Southampton game’s officiating and made that clear in his post-match interview.<\/p>\n

“What Andre Marriner did with Sadio Mane tonight, I’m not sure that’s okay, to be honest,” Klopp said<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“The boy tried everything, had a few great challenges with Walker-Peters. But there were a lot of situations which should have been free-kicks. The last one, when he goes down, you see that back and in the box, he hits him in the end with his left foot, that\u2019s a penalty.”<\/p>\n

The German also took this opportunity to question the number of penalties being given out to Manchester United.<\/p>\n

“I hear now that Manchester United had more penalties in two years than I had in five-and-a-half years. I\u2019ve no idea if that\u2019s my fault, or how that can happen.”<\/p>\n

While there was a chance that these comments could have led to punishment for Klopp, it is now reported that this will not be the case, and the former Borussia Dortmund<\/a> manager will not face any FA action.<\/p>\n
