The Football Association is coming under increasing pressure to impose stricter sanctions on players for breaking coronavirus protocols.<\/p>\n
Four games, including Manchester City<\/a> versus Everton<\/a>, were called off due to the increase of positive results, with several Premier League players having flouted rules over the Christmas period.<\/p>\n Calls come for a further crackdown from clubs as players from Tottenham Hotspur<\/a>, Manchester City, Fulham<\/a>, Crystal Palace<\/a> and West Ham United<\/a> have all broken restrictions over the holiday season.<\/p>\n Three players of Jose Mourinho\u2019s squad in Erik Lamela<\/a>, Sergio Reguilon<\/a> and Giovani Lo Celso<\/a> were pictured at a Christmas party which was also attended by West Ham winger Manuel Lanzini<\/a>.<\/p>\n The recent uprising of rule flouting continued with Fulham and Crystal Palace looking into reports that Aleksandar Mitrovic<\/a> and Luka Milivojevic<\/a> attended a party whilst Manchester City opened an internal investigation in relation to Benjamin Mendy<\/a> holding a party with members outside his household.<\/p>\n Clubs in Tier 4 of government restrictions are to test twice a week but with the FA failing to maintain strict protocols, clubs are failing to sanction their players appropriately.<\/p>\n The Football Association has failed to take tougher actions and place stricter sanctions on players caught despite calls from its former chairman, David Bernstein according to the Telegraph Sport<\/a>. In recent weeks England players Jack Grealish<\/a> and Ross Barkley<\/a> avoided punishment from the FA for eating at a restaurant in London but the Aston Villa<\/a> captain was fined two weeks’ wages by his club.<\/p>\n Instead, they have sanctioned players for gambling and racism offences. Kieran Trippier<\/a>, now at Atletico Madrid, was banned for ten weeks<\/a> for betting offences which has been suspended<\/a> after the matter was taken to court.<\/p>\n Manchester United<\/a> striker Edinson Cavani<\/a> was banned<\/a> for three games and fined for making a racist comment towards a friend on social media.
