Newcastle United<\/a> are one of several sides looking at Hull City defender Jacob Greaves<\/a>, according to The Telegraph’s Mike McGrath.<\/a><\/p>\n

Magpies Looking at 20-year-old Defender<\/h3>\n

Newcastle United have struggled at the back this season, having already conceded 26 goals in the league. The Magpies allowed a further two goals in Sunday’s defeat against Leicester City<\/a>, prompting manager Steve Bruce to look at defensive reinforcements.<\/p>\n

Newcastle have already been linked with a move<\/a> for Fikayo Tomori<\/a> and Brandon Williams<\/a> of Chelsea<\/a> and Manchester United<\/a> respectively, but those transfer targets would be only available as a loan option.<\/p>\n

McGrath reports that the Magpies are eyeing up a move for Hull City youngster Jacob Greaves who, at just 20-years-old, would be a key asset for the future.<\/p>\n

Newcastle Facing Competition for Greaves<\/h3>\n

According to the report, several unknown Championship clubs are also interested in the League One defender.<\/p>\n

Although it is likely that Newcastle would be able to offer the 20-year-old a better deal, he may be limited to game time given his lack of experience at a higher level.<\/p>\n

However, a move away from the KCOM stadium could depend on the offer. The youngster may feel it best it remain with the Tigers to further his development ahead of a future move away.<\/p>\n

Jacob Greaves Career<\/h3>\n

Having come through the youth setup at Hull, Greaves has gone on to make appearances 14 appearances in all competitions this season after making his Tigers debut in September.<\/p>\n

The defender spent time away on loan last season, where he turned out 35 times for Cheltenham Town scoring once, as the Robins reached the League Two play-off semi-final.<\/p>\n

In November, Greaves penned a new three-year deal with the Tigers.<\/p>\n
