Frank Lampard<\/a>‘s tenure as Chelsea<\/a> manager is “under threat” of the sack, according to reports. A run of one win in six matches leaves the Blues boss on the verge of the sack according to reporters at The Athletic.<\/a><\/p>\n

Dip In Form Possibly Forcing Club Hierarchy Into Action<\/h3>\n

The former Chelsea midfielder’s position as manager at Stamford Bridge is under “serious” threat after a 3-1 defeat to Manchester City<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The defeat, against a Pep Guardiola<\/a> side suffering from the effects of coronavirus, leaves pressure growing against Lampard.<\/p>\n

Under Lampard’s guidance, the Blues splashed over \u00a3200 million on summer signings but have failed to make an impact in the Premier League.<\/p>\n

Just one win in their last six leaves the London club eighth in the standings, level on points with Aston Villa, Southampton and West Ham.<\/p>\n

Despite the mass spending a few months ago, the Blues sit three points worse off than last season.<\/p>\n

Chelsea have already started looking for potential suitors according to The Athletic’s Simon Johnson<\/a> and Liam Twomey.<\/p>\n

Blues bosses are reportedly frustrated by the recent form under Lampard and the ineffectiveness of Kai Havertz<\/a> and Timo Werner<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The duo moved to Chelsea with great expectations and have struggled to continue their form under Lampard.<\/p>\n

Life for Werner in London started well but his form has since dropped. He has failed to score in any of his last 12 appearances for Chelsea – his worst scoring drought for more than six years.<\/p>\n

Havertz, another of Chelsea’s marquee signings this summer, has meanwhile started the last four Premier League matches on the bench.<\/p>\n

Lampard has not lost the dressing room, according to The Athletic, but tensions between some players and the Blues boss “have been growing for some time”.<\/p>\n

Just one month ago the Blues were on a 17-match unbeaten run across all competitions, but Lampard’s side have undergone a sudden change in fortune.<\/p>\n
