Barcelona<\/span><\/a>\u00a0have confirmed that<\/span>\u00a0Philippe Coutinho<\/span><\/a>\u00a0will be out for three months following a successful knee operation. The Brazilian injured his lateral meniscus in his left knee during Barcelona’s recent match against SD Eibar.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Injury Woes Continue for Philippe Coutinho<\/span><\/h3>\n

The bad news keeps on coming for Barcelona as Philippe Coutinho is set to miss approximately three months of action. The former Liverpool<\/a> man came on in the 66th minute of the Spanish giants’ match against Eibar but failed to complete the game after picking up an injury. Barca had earlier\u00a0<\/span>confirmed an injury<\/span><\/a>\u00a0to Coutinho but had not provided a timeframe for his return.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ronald Koeman provided an update on the Brazilian’s injury while\u00a0<\/span>speaking to the media<\/span><\/a>\u00a0ahead of Barcelona’s trip to Huesca. He said: “<\/span>It’s unlucky because we have so many important players out injured and Philippe will be about three months out. He always has been an important player and he will be important, but now he has to recover, and I don’t know when he will be 100 percent fit.<\/p>\n

“An important absence. Upfront, we are having some problems, of course, and I will have to see how we can solve Philippe’s absence,” added the former Everton<\/a> manager.<\/span><\/p>\n

The injury comes as yet another blow to Barcelona who have been struggling in La Liga<\/a>. This is the second injury the Brazilian has suffered this season after having earlier injured his hamstring.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Barcelona Hoping for a Good 2021<\/span><\/h3>\n

Having just endured one of the worst years in their history, Barcelona will hope that there are better things to come in 2021. They started 2020 by sacking manager Ernest Valverde, and the 2019\/20 season also witnessed them surrendering their two-year grip on the La Liga title to arch-rivals Real Madrid<\/a>. More bad news followed as they suffered their heaviest\u00a0Champions League<\/a>\u00a0defeat at the hands of Bayern Munich<\/a>. The humiliating loss saw interim manager Quique Setien given the sack.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Things went from bad to worse for the Spanish side, though, as Lionel Messi<\/a>, arguably the greatest player in Barcelona history, looked to move away from the club<\/a>. The transfer fiasco saw longtime president Josep Maria Bartomeu resigning from his position.<\/span><\/p>\n

The new season has not been too good for the Catalan giants either. The effects of the Coronavirus have seen Barcelona crippled financially, and new manager Ronald Koeman has struggled to adjust to his new surroundings. After 15 matches, Barca have secured just 25 points and are sitting 6th on the table, ten points behind league leaders Atletico Madrid.<\/span><\/p>\n
