Arsenal<\/a> have confirmed<\/a> Brazilian defender Gabriel<\/a> will miss the next two games after having tested positive for COVID-19.<\/p>\n

The Gunners face a trip to Brighton & Hove Albion<\/a> on December 29, 2020, before visiting the Hawthorns to take on West Bromwich Albion<\/a> on January 2, 2021.<\/p>\n

Gabriel to Miss Next Two Games After COVID-19 Positive Test<\/h2>\n

In an update on the club website, Arsenal stated<\/a>: “Gabriel: Has tested positive for COVID-19 and is isolating according to UK Government and Premier League<\/a> protocols. We will continue to monitor and support Gabriel, and we are hoping he will be available again after our next two matches.”<\/p>\n

Should he be available, Gabriel’s next game will be his first in the FA Cup<\/a>, as Arsenal host Newcastle United<\/a> at the Emirates Stadium in the third round of the famous competition.<\/p>\n

With no further injury news following the 3-1 win over Chelsea<\/a> on Boxing Day (December 26, 2020), the club provided updates on\u00a0 Thomas Partey<\/a>, David Luiz<\/a> and Willian<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Partey and David Luiz have returned to outside training, with Partey being monitored and David Luiz set to re-join the full squad on Thursday, December 31, as will Willian.<\/p>\n

Arsenal reiterated<\/a> their commitment to regular COVID-19 testing: “As part of Premier League protocol, all members of our first-team squad and support staff continue to be regularly tested for COVID-19.”<\/p>\n

Gabriel a Regular in the Arsenal Defence<\/h3>\n

Since joining in the summer, Gabriel has been a regular member of the Arsenal defence, missing just three<\/a> of their 15 Premier League games to-date so far.<\/p>\n

Despite the club’s poor form, Gabriel has not been detrimental to that and has even found the net on two<\/a> occasions. The 23-year-old has the potential to be a key player for the club in the long-term.<\/p>\n

Following the win over Chelsea, Mikel Arteta’s side will be looking to kick-on and pick up as many points as they possibly can.<\/p>\n
