Newcastle United<\/a> are set to struggle in the January transfer window, with a report from The Telegraph<\/a> claiming that there is no money in the transfer budget available to sign new players.<\/p>\n

Newcastle United Can’t Spend in January<\/h2>\n

Steve Bruce Took Over From Rafael Benitez Last Season<\/h3>\n

Newcastle currently sit 13th in the Premier League<\/a> table, with fewer points between themselves and the relegation zone than the European places. They’ve also won just two of their last five games.<\/p>\n

Bruce has been in charge at the club since Rafael Benitez left back in the summer of 2019. His appointment was met with disdain by a lot of Newcastle fans but he got them to a modest 13th place in the league during the last campaign.<\/p>\n

Newcastle United Left With No Transfer Budget<\/h3>\n

However, he’ll now have his work cut out trying to improve the squad and push on with the club due to the recent news that he cannot invest mid-season.<\/p>\n

In addition, to the lack of funds, they’ll also spend the month without both Allan Saint-Maximin<\/a> and Ryan Fraser<\/a>\u00a0due to injury concerns. It means they’ll be struggling without two of their best players and no money with which to replace them.<\/p>\n

Instead, boss Steve Bruce is going to have to try and use his wealth of experience and expertise to try and maneuver the loan market, as any permanent moves look unlikely.<\/p>\n

Newcastle United Transfer Budget Depleted<\/h3>\n

So, why the lack of money? According to this report, it comes down, like with many other clubs, to the COVID-19 pandemic. Newcastle have been hit hard by a loss of matchday revenue from the fans, and the television money coming in is currently being used in other aspects of the running of the club.<\/p>\n

For Bruce, then, the only ways to carry out winter transfers remain either via the loan market and securing any short-term deals or by selling players to help raise some funds.<\/p>\n
