Paris Saint-Germain<\/a> have announced<\/a>\u00a0that they have relieved Thomas Tuchel from his managerial duties despite reaching the last 16 of the UEFA Champions League<\/a>.<\/p>\n

PSG Sack Club’s Most Successful Manager<\/h3>\n

The German manager was sacked on the eve of Christmas after his side\u2019s 4-0 victory over Strasbourg but has now reached a compensation agreement of \u00a35.4 million with the club, according to Fabrizio Romano<\/a>.<\/p>\n

With the 47-year old\u2019s contract due to end in the summer, PSG sporting director Leonardo Araujo has decided to act early and dismiss the club\u2019s most successful manager.<\/p>\n

While PSG are not dominating in the league, their latest win in Tuchel\u2019s final game sees them sit one point off the top spot. The sack comes as a shock after the former Borussia Dortmund<\/a>\u00a0manager’s recent success leading the club to their first-ever Champions League Final.<\/p>\n

He led the French club to two successive Ligue 1<\/a> titles and leaves with a 75.5%-win rate, the highest success percentage for a single coach in the league\u2019s history.<\/p>\n

Tuchel has left PSG with immediate effect and the French club are widely reported to be in talks with Mauricio Pochettino<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Pochettino in Line to Be Successor<\/h3>\n

The former Tottenham Hotspur<\/a> manager is said to be the main candidate to become Tuchel\u2019s replacement. Pochettino is without a club since leaving the London club more than a year ago. He had been linked<\/a> with top managerial positions across Europe but has seemingly picked the French club.<\/p>\n

The Argentinian manager is set to return to the club where he spent three years as a player, playing 70 games and helping the club win the 2001 edition of the UEFA Intertoto Cup.<\/p>\n

With former players becoming managers of top clubs now a common theme with Frank Lampard at Chelsea<\/a>, Zinedine Zidane at Real Madrid and Ole Gunnar Solksjaer at Manchester United<\/a>, fans of PSG<\/a> will be happy Pochettino has quality pedigree at a managerial level compared to the rest.<\/p>\n
