Manchester United<\/a> are\u00a0looking into<\/a> the possibility of extending Edinson Cavani<\/a>‘s contract at Old Trafford, according to manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.<\/p>\n

The Uruguayan striker joined United this summer on a free transfer after his contract with Paris Saint-Germain<\/a> ran out earlier this year.<\/p>\n

It is safe to say that Edinson Cavani has had a huge impact since signing in Manchester.<\/p>\n

The striker is yet to start a match in the Premier League<\/a>, but has already registered three goals and two assists in the competition. He has inspired miraculous comebacks in matches like United’s 3-2 victory against Southampton<\/a>, which came after an abysmal first-half performance left them 2-0 down heading into the break. Cavani was directly involved in all three of United’s goals against the Saints.<\/p>\n

His quality is magnificent, and he showed that in United’s Carabou Cup quarter-final victory against Everton<\/a>. Despite having an average game, Cavani produced a moment of magic late on, scoring the winning goal with a fantastic shot from outside the penalty area.<\/p>\n

The former PSG striker is exactly the sort of experienced player United have been crying out for, and it looks as though his impressive performances will be rewarded, as United plan to renew Edinson Cavani’s contract.<\/p>\n

Solskjaer Hints at New Contract for Cavani<\/h3>\n

In his pre-match press conference for the Red Devils’ Tuesday fixture against Wolverhampton Wanderers<\/a>, Solskjaer hinted that the club are looking to renew Cavani’s contract which expires at the end of the season.<\/p>\n

When asked whether United were considering renewing the Uruguayan’s contract, Solskjaer replied<\/a>: “Edinson has a few years left in him so I wouldn’t say anything else. He has made a great impact and I trust him.”<\/p>\n

The Norwegian manager was also asked about the playing time we should expect Cavani to be given.<\/p>\n

“He is definitely a starter,” Solskjaer responded<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

“You don’t classify a player of that quality as anything else. I trust him and he will probably start more games than he won’t.”<\/span><\/p>\n
