Struggling Bundesliga<\/a> side\u00a0Schalke<\/a> are currently bottom of the table, but the club have appointed Christian Gross<\/a> as the clubs new head coach until the end of the season. The news was announced via the clubs\u2019 official Twitter<\/a> account on Sunday afternoon.<\/p>\n

Schalke Look to Swiss Manager to Alter Fortunes<\/h3>\n

Schalke have only four points from their 13 Bundesliga games this season and are stuck right at the bottom of the league. Gross is a former manager of Tottenham Hotspur<\/a> as well as VfB Stuttgart<\/a>. As Spurs manager, he was best known for taking a tube train to the wrong station ending up closer to rivals Arsenal’s<\/a> stadium than that of his new club Spurs at White Hart Lane.<\/p>\n

Gross Wants \u2018Goal Orientated\u2019 Schalke<\/h3>\n

Christian Gross\u2019 last job in management was in Saudi Arabia<\/a>\u00a0at Al Ahli<\/a> in February, which was his second stint at the club having previously won the Saudi Crown Prince Cup and the Saudi Professional League in what was a successful period for the club. At his new club, also quoted on the clubs\u2019 official Twitter feed, Gross is wanting to see a more attacking focused side.<\/p>\n

“We have to be goal-oriented and work towards results. I want to feel the players’ enthusiasm at all times,” he said.<\/p>\n

Gross Becomes Fourth Boss of Troubled Season<\/h3>\n

Gross is now the fourth boss of Schalke\u2019s season despite it only being just 13 games old. Current interim boss Huub Stevens has been replaced by Gross after he had been appointed following the sacking of Manuel Baum<\/a>. Baum had been brought in to replace the sacked former manager of Huddersfield Town<\/a>, David Wagner<\/a>, who was sacked in September.<\/p>\n

Gross achieved his biggest successes in his home country of Switzerland, winning a total of six league titles with Basel<\/a> and Grasshopper Zurich <\/a>respectively.<\/p>\n

Gross now starts this tough job with an away game at Hertha Berlin<\/a> on January 2, 2021.<\/p>\n
