PSG have not had everything going their way this season. In fact, they lost the opening two fixtures of the season. However, they managed to progress to the knockout stages of the Champions League and also closed the gap at the top of Ligue 1 to just one point.

The decision to sack Tuchel just before Christmas appears to be quite harsh and perhaps his difference in opinion with Leonardo has finally caught up. Tuchel reached the final of the Champions League only four months ago and is definitely was one of the most successful managers at PSG.

Potential Replacements

Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has emerged as the favourite to replace Thomas Tuchel, according to Fabrizio Romano. Pochettino played almost 100 times for PSG in his playing career and has been out of the game for over a year.

Thiago Motta, another former PSG player, is also under consideration. As well as playing for the club, Motta has also taken charge of PSG’s U19 side previously.

What’s Next for Thomas Tuchel?

Thomas Tuchel is one of the best tacticians in football. With many teams in search of a manager, the German should not find it hard to get his next job. Barcelona could be interested after their poor start to the season, and Borussia Dortmund are also looking to hire a new manager after sacking Lucien Favre recently. However, it remains to be seen whether he would go back there after being sacked by the club in 2017.

Main Photo

Embed from Getty Images

Thomas Tuchel has been sacked by Paris Saint-Germain, according to Fabrizio Romano and BILD.
