He netted 18 league goals in that campaign and won the League One Player of the Year award.

His performances last season were not going unnoticed by those in the Premier League, but his progress was brought to an abrupt halt when he sustained an ACL injury in the home match against Wigan Athletic.

It’s been a long road back for Dack, but he made his competitive return in Rovers’ U23 match against Derby County earlier this week, a game which they won 5-3.

It will be a major boost to Blackburn to have Dack available for league action soon. They are already one of the strongest attacking sides in the Championship, currently sitting second in the scoring charts.

Liverpool loanee Harvey Elliott has been making the headlines in recent weeks for his performances, while Adam Armstrong and Sam Gallagher also continue to impress in the forward positions.

Adding Dack into that attacking fold makes Blackburn a frightening proposition for many teams in the division and could be the difference between them making the play-offs and not.

What Was Said?

Speaking to the club website, Dack said of his new deal: “It feels really good. “It’s been going on a while now, but we got there in the end, so it feels nice to commit to this club for three more years and with the option at the end of it it could be four, so I’m really pleased.

“This club gave me the opportunity to come here in League One and show what I can do and the gaffer believed in me. The club have given me the opportunity to play in the Championship for the first time and has stuck by me through the injury, so I felt like I owed the club a little bit and as long as the deal was right for both parties then I was happy to sign.

“This is my fourth season now and hopefully we can finish this season off with a flourish. The last year hasn’t been great for me, but injuries are part and parcel of football and I was unlucky to get a serious one, but overall I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time here so far.”

Main Photo

Embed from Getty Images

Blackburn R0vers midfielder Bradley Dack has signed a new two-and-a-half-year deal at the club, keeping him at Ewood Park until the summer of 2023.
