With no contract extension being signed, Fabrizio Romano<\/a> has reported via his Twitter account that we will see Diego Costa<\/a> leaving Atletico Madrid<\/a> in 2021.<\/p>\n

Diego Costa to Leave Atletico Madrid as Free Agent<\/h3>\n

Diego Costa<\/a> is notorious for being a fiery striker and his temperament has landed him in hot water throughout his career, but one thing he has always done is score goals, with 140\u00a0to his name. His first stint at Atletico Madrid saw him win La Liga<\/a> and reach a Champions League<\/a> final.<\/p>\n

Chelsea<\/h3>\n

In 2014, the striker moved to the Premier League<\/a> with Chelsea<\/a> and had much success, winning the League Cup and two League titles before returning to Atletico once more.<\/p>\n

Disappointing Return<\/h3>\n

Despite being a legend amongst Atletico fans, Costa\u2019s return to the club has been less profitable than his first spell there. Since rejoining, he has scored just 17 goals in 83 appearances and the club are now keen to move the 31-year-old on to pastures new.<\/p>\n

Lack of Interest<\/h3>\n

Atletico Madrid would prefer not to lose the striker for free but that now looks increasingly likely with little interest being shown from clubs wanting to sign the player.<\/p>\n

Costa can leave the club for nothing in January or in the summer of 2021, with his agent working to try and find him a new team.<\/p>\n

Goal.com<\/a> have reported that teams in the Premier League, Serie A<\/a>, and Ligue 1<\/a> have all been approached with a view to taking Costa, but the response so far has been less than favourable, with a feeling that the player’s best days may now be behind him.<\/p>\n

China and Qatar<\/h3>\n

Big money moves could still materialise, with China and Qatar other possibilities for Costa to explore.<\/p>\n

What is certain is that, after two spells at the club, the end is near, and 2021 should see Diego Costa leaving Atletico Madrid.<\/p>\n
