Everton<\/a> Women manager Willie Kirk hopes to win silverware and compete in the Champions League after extending his spell with the club for another two-and-a-half years.<\/p>\n

New Deal Until 2023 Rewards Kirk’s Efforts<\/h3>\n

Since his appointment in December 2018, Kirk has guided the Toffees to a stable position in the Women’s Super League.<\/p>\n

Kirk guided Everton to safety after taking over in the middle of a relegation battle two years ago.<\/p>\n

In his first full season in charge the Toffees finished sixth, he also took them on an excellent run in the Women’s FA Cup – eventually losing out to Manchester City<\/a> after extra-time at Wembley.<\/p>\n

Speaking about his new deal, Kirk said:<\/a> “I’m delighted to extend my stay here. It’s been a really exciting two years.<\/p>\n

“I was very keen to continue that and start piecing together what our future journey looks like.<\/p>\n

“The ambition of the club is a huge factor for me. I’m a very ambitious person. I want to achieve a lot in the game.<\/p>\n

“We want to take the standards at Everton to a completely different level. A higher level than it\u2019s ever been before.<\/p>\n

“I\u2019m desperate to bring silverware to Everton Women. And we want to qualify for the Champions League.<\/p>\n

“There are a lot of building blocks [towards achieving those goals], but that\u2019s what we want to do.”<\/p>\n

Targetting Champions League football is certainly not unrealistic for the Toffees.<\/p>\n

The Blues sit fifth in the league table, within touching distance of the European spots as they head into the Women’s Super League Christmas break.<\/p>\n

Kirk explained how the aspirations to win silverware will help attract elite players to the club, as well as developing younger talent.<\/p>\n

He said: “We\u2019re an attractive place to come and play \u2013 top players are interested in signing for the club.<\/p>\n

“We need to continue improving the players we\u2019ve got and to continue to invest \u2013 and invest in a level of player that will help us achieve our goals.<\/p>\n

“We want to develop our own players and bring them through the Academy system, and that\u2019s exciting. We\u2019ve been quite proactive in that.”<\/p>\n
