Despite dropping down the Manchester United<\/a> pecking order, according to Manchester Evening News<\/a>, Daniel James<\/a> wants to fight for his place at Old Trafford instead of seeking game time elsewhere in January.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Welsh winger hasn’t started a Premier League game since October 24, in which he failed to impress in a 0-0 draw with Chelsea. Since then, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has instead opted to start the likes of Mason Greenwood<\/a> and Anthony Martial<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

If James does want to regain his place in this Manchester United side, it is Greenwood who he’ll have to get around. As it stands, though, the Welshman’s seat on the United bench looks likely to become more and more permanent.<\/span><\/p>\n

Daniel James to Fight for Manchester United Place<\/span><\/h2>\n

Uphill Battle<\/span><\/h3>\n

With the front three of Martial, Marcus Rashford<\/a> and Greenwood slowly, but surely, beginning to click into place, Daniel James faces an uphill battle if he wants to try and gain a starting place under Solskjaer.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The fact is, the former Swansea man is nothing but a backup these days and has been ever since Greenwood’s sudden arrival on the scene. The academy graduate scored a stunning 18 goals last season- dislodging James’ place in the United in the process.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

And, despite failing to replicate those numbers so far this season, remains one of the main men at Old Trafford.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

James Must Consider Career<\/span><\/h3>\n

It is somewhat admirable that James wants to fight for a place in this United side, but, realistically, is he going to win it back? Unlikely. Greenwood will only continue to improve, and Rashford and Martial are two of the first names on the teamsheet- meaning that James is unlikely to get a place in the starting lineup at Old Trafford.<\/span><\/p>\n

Now is the time for the Welshman to consider his career, and perhaps secure a move away from the club.<\/span><\/p>\n
